Children’s Hand on Experience (CHE)
A very popular course designed and developed for our youngest customers. Whilst there is no official age restriction we find the ideal age range for this course is 8 – 12 years of age. The duration time of 1 ˝ hours is filled with information and education for participants.
Very much a hands on course we begin with a meeting the birds session. Our younger guests are introduced to all of our Birds of prey and provided information and details of the different species their habitats and environments.
Our participants then select a particular species or bird that they can now carry on a gloved fist and we go on a hawk walk around the woods and pathways of our falconry centre. This gives the opportunity for hands on and for our trained Falconer to tell the participant all about the bird they are carrying and answer initial questions that they may have.
We return back to our Falconry flying area after about 20minutes of ‘hawk walking’ and begin the exiting task of flying the chosen bird. We then move on to flying a different species with our guests so they can see how different Raptors fly and feed. Weather permitting we try to finish the experience by flying one of our Falcons for the children.
All in all we hope to be able to offer our youngest guests an experience to remember. Each participant will receive a printed certificate made out in their name to recognise their attendance and achievement. Something to frame and go on the bedroom wall !!
Delivered throughout the year. Prior booking is necessary and on most occasions the CHE is delivered in the afternoon. Gift Vouchers can be provided.
