The BHH course is the product of 18 years of delivering what we see as the ideal bird of prey experience module. This is a half day course lasting approx three hours. The BHH is as an opportunity for people to gain hands on experience with Birds of Prey along with getting lots of information about Raptors, their conservation and much much more.
This morning course starts at
We begin the experience with a session in our Falconry workshop. This takes about 60 – 75 minutes (depending on how may questions are asked) and covers the different types of Raptor, their conservation, and their habits. We give a brief tutorial on Falconry history and have a quick look at the equipment fitted to Raptors in captivity and how to handle birds of prey.
The duration of the course is spent outside with our Birds. After an introduction to the birds at the centre on that day we go for a short Hawk walk to begin the hands on. Returning back to our flying arena the participants then begin to fly our birds. We go through the initial training (manning) and progress on to flying our birds on a training line (Creance) and finish off the session when participants fly their Birds free in our display arena.
All in all we try to offer an experience to remember. Lots of information and lots of fun. Participant can expect to handle Falcons, Hawks and Owls during their time with us and each person attending will receive a certificate recognizing their involvement and achievement. Additionally we provide an 11 page handout to summarize all the information and details delivered on the day.
Cost £80.00 per person or £75 when taken with the AHH
