The BHM is specifically designed for those contemplating Bird of Prey ownership. It is largely a theoretical course based in our Falconry Workshop and is designed to ready and educate the would-be Falconer in techniques for looking after their Bird of prey.

 Subjects covered are species selection & availability, basic food and nutritional requirements, day to day maintenance of Raptors, some of the common ailments and how to treat them. Also discussed is Aviary and Mews/Weathering design. Beak Coping and talon clipping is also taught.

A logical progression is pursued from preparing to receive the Bird of Prey, traveling requirements, ethical and legal considerations, Legislation relating to Birds of Prey in captivity as well as out in the wild.

This course can be specifically designed to suit all levels of skill and experience and will endow the bird of prey enthusiast with enough information and training to make an educated start into Falconry and Raptor keeping. If you already own your own birds and would like to bring them along to practice, you are more than welcome. Please let us know in advance.
